VLIZ North Sea Award

This year on my birthday, the 6th of February, I received a very nice birthday present: I received the news that I was the winner of the VLIZ North Sea Award 2017!

Every year VLIZ (Flanders Marine Institute) awards a prize at the VLIZ Marine Science Day to promote innovative fundamental or applied research. This research has to focus on the study of the structure or processes of the North Sea, with special attention to the shallow coastal areas and estuaries of the Southern Bight and the English Channel. More information about this prize can be found here.

My contribution was my PhD thesis Pacific oysters and parasites: Species invasions and their impact on parasite-host interactions. I collected the prize at the VLIZ Marine Science Day on Wednesday 21 March 2018. Here I also gave a talk about my research.
